‘Beetlejuice 2’ Is Definitely Happening

According to Deadline, the sequel to Tim Burton’s 1988 horror/comedy starring Michael Keaton as the titular ghoul — who’s hired by a recently deceased couple to eradicate their home of a newly arrived family of three and their obnoxious companions — is steadily progressing towards development.

The project, which has long been conceptualized for many years now, has moved forward with new writer Mike Vukadinovitch (Rememory, Marvel’s Runaways), with director Tim Burton and Beetlejuice himself, Michael Keaton, citing their excitement for collaboration on a sequel even though no deals have been made just yet.

Fans of the original can rest easy knowing the Beetlejuice follow-up is quickly underway — now you can go ahead and stop trying to manifest it with the whole “Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice!” schtick.
